Edinburgh Badminton Academy recognises that digital technology, especially social media, are an important aspect of everyday life, and offer a way for young people to keep in contact with EBA off court.

However, we are also aware of the dangers posed to young people through inappropriate use of social media. All of our employees will adhere to the following policies relating to social media:

  • Coaches will not use social media to communicate on a one-to-one basis with players under 18
  • Any electronic communication with your child (U18) will include a copy to yourself or our child protection officer
  • Coaches will deny any ‘friend’ or ‘follow’ requests on private accounts
  • We won’t use a photo of your child without your permission and approval

We take any misuse of social media very seriously. If you wish to report a concern, click below.

WhatsApp for Players & Parents

To allow players to take charge of their own training, if requested by parents we can create WhatsApp groups which include yourself, your child and two coaches.

This allows players to ask questions directly to coaches while keeping you fully up to date with any discussion. It’s a great way for your child to develop responsibility. If you would like to set this up for your child please click here (TBC).

16 & 17 Year Old Athletes & Young Leaders

For U18 coaches and volunteers it may be detrimental in their professional development of their role to restrict the ability to share professional information with them from other coaches & volunteers.

In this case with parental consent, our coaches will be able to communicate professional matters individually with a young person. All communications will be saved and viewable to the parent.
